60 M tons yield of grains in Ukraine foreseen by UCAB
Due to the Association UCAB experts’ estimations 2016 grain yield expected to reach 59.8 M tons which less comparing to previous year by 0.3 M tons. Along with, 2016/17 MY grain export is projected to reach 35 M tons – 3.6 M tons less comparing to the past season.

Almost 90 countries import Ukrainian grain
In accordance with the FAO forecast presented by Kairat Nazhmedinov, senior economist for Regional Office in Europe and Central Asia, at first international conference GRAIN UKRAINE in Odessa, global production volume of grains and cereals will reach 2 543 M tons (+0.6% to 2015). Global wheat production most probably will not reach higher volumes comparing to 2015, whereas rice production and fodder grains volumes forecasted with growth.

Bread production in Ukraine has declined
During first five months in 2016 bread and bakery production has declined by 6% and reached 46.5 thousand tons. Notable decrease of rye bread production has been marked at the level of 22%, wheat and rye-wheat bread by 7% and 6% accordingly.

Plant protection products’ import has increased by 40%
During Jan-May 2016 64.3 thousand tons of PPP were imported to Ukraine which is 40% extra comparing to previous year. Major import growth was noted in supplies of herbicides and insecticides.

Ukraine negotiates an increase of non-tariff quotas for export to the EU
On 22 July of 2016 in Brussels Ministry of agriculture policy and food of Ukraine commonly with General Directorate of the EU have held “Round table” devoted to agricultural business in the “Agro dialog EU –Ukraine, 2016” framework. Minister of agricultural policy and food of Ukraine, Mr. Taras Kutoyi, other Ukrainian and European business associations’, along with leading companies’ representatives have took part in the event.

Prices on fertilizers continue to decline
From the beginning of the year prices on the most demanded fertilizers as ammonium nitrate and carbamide have dropped by 29% and 23% accordingly.

Exporters forecast prices growth on grain
In 16/17 MY grain prices downward trend may change to a positive. Due to results of UCAB experts research which is based on IFC data, wheat average price may reach 145 USD per a ton (+6% to 15/16 MY), barley – 141 USD (+5%), corn – 130 USD (equal to average price in 15/16 MY. The UCAB association analysts mark weather issues, shrinkage of transition stocks of corn & barley and possible increase of oil prices as major price growth drivers.

Soybeans prices will rise
Despite record projected by USDA yields of soybeans in 16/17 MY at the level of 324 M tons which is +3% comparing to previous MY, prices continue to increase.
