U.S. USDA's export credit for grain surpasses $5 billion
On June 24 and July 2, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced an additional $1.05 billion for GSM-102 export credit guarantees for the 2009 fiscal year, bringing this year's total allocations to $5.375 billion, according to the U.S. Grains Council (USGC)

Russian grain prices down
Russian grain prices fell more last week on as expected healthy harvests elsewhere kept international demand low, analysts said on Monday. "Exporters are concerned about low demand on the part of importing nations, which this season are expecting large wheat crops," the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) said.

Iraqi port unloading 202,000 tonnes of wheat
Iraq's Umm Qasr port is currently taking delivery of 202,000 tonnes of Australian, German and Russian hard wheat that were purchased this year, shipping sources said on Monday. The port, the entry point for most of the country's bulk commodity imports, was also expecting, by the end of July.

Jordan buys 100,000 tonnes of Ukrainian barley
Jordan bought 100,000 tonnes of Ukrainian barley from Nibulon at $168 a tonne C&F, a grain official said on Tuesday. The supplier will deliver two 50,000 tonne cargoes with the first shipment in the first half of August and second in the first half of September, the grain official said, adding this was due to a need to schedule other grain vessel arrivals.
