Jordan buys 100,000 tonnes of Ukrainian barley
Jordan bought 100,000 tonnes of Ukrainian barley from Nibulon at $168 a tonne C&F, a grain official said on Tuesday. The supplier will deliver two 50,000 tonne cargoes with the first shipment in the first half of August and second in the first half of September, the grain official said, adding this was due to a need to schedule other grain vessel arrivals.
This was Jordan's first barley purchase since April when it bought 50,000 tonnes of Black Sea origin barley at $162 per tonne c&f. Jordan has stepped up its purchases of wheat and barley in recent months to benefit from lower global wheat prices from peaks last year. On June 25, Jordan bought 100,000 tonnes of Black Sea origin hard wheat at $213 a tonne c&f in a tender for the same volume.
