Current year losses of winter crops are record low over the past decade
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, current year losses of winter crops are record low over the past 10 years. In winter period of 2016/2017 marketing year only 0.4% (25.5 thous. ha) of winter crops were ruined by frost out of the total area sown by winter crops (7,175.1 thous. ha). Losses of wheat and triticale amounted to 0.3%, rye - 0.1%, barley - 1.1% and rapeseed - 5.8%.

Half of the Ukrainian mustard is collected in three regions
Ukraine ranks fourth in the world for production output of mustard and second for its export. Every year Ukrainian farmers grow approximately 40 thous. tons of mustard seeds which are exported to the fullest extent.

Capitalization of the Ukrainian agricultural companies keeps growing
Total capitalization of the Ukrainian public agricultural companies quoted on the international stock exchanges as of 18 April 2017 amounted to USD 3.3 billion that is by 19.5% more than at the beginning of this year (+ USD 542 million).

Ukraine increases its export of peas
In 2016 Ukraine exported 359 thousand tons of peas to the amount of USD 106.5 million that is 88% more than the volumes of 2015 constituting 191 thousand tons to the amount of USD 54 million. The primary importers of the Ukrainian peas were India – 41% of all supplies, Pakistan – 16%, Bangladesh – 8% and Turkey – 5%.

In April increase of prices for meat and eggs is expected
In view of the end of Lent the rise in prices for most products of animal origin is anticipated in the second or third decade of April. Cost of meat is expected to increase by 7-12%. However, this price hike will be short-time and at the end of April prices are going to stabilize. Rising costs are connected with increasing demand for meat products, and currently the first indications of this trend influenced by increase of purchase prices for live cattle can be observed. Increase of price for eggs is expected as well, since the demand for them during Easter holidays is very high.

Ukrainians consume less dairy products than standard rate stipulates
On the basis of the Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’ a project ‘3 Dairy Products per Day’ has been launched in which four milk-processing companies joined together to dispel myths about dairy products.
