This year harvest season started earlier
Since June 13, Ukrainian agrarians have started the threshing of winter barley, peas and other early cereals and legumes. Harvest season began one week earlier than last year. In 2017, the harvesting started on June 21st. The reason is low rainfall and high temperatures in May and June of the current season, which allowed crops to reach full maturity earlier than under normal weather conditions.
As of 05 July, Ukrainian agrarians harvested 19% of early crops (of which: 17% of winter wheat, 73% of winter barley, 4% of spring barley, 26% of peas and 31% of winter rapeseed). On the other hand, only 5% of the early crops were harvested in the past season (of which: 2% of winter wheat, 33% of winter barley, 2% of spring barley, 12% of peas and 2% of winter rapeseed).
