Sustainable agro pruning and plantation removal woody biofuel supply

Second consecutive seminar on perspectives of building efficient business models in APPR’s firewood supply for energy purposes was held in Kyiv on 10th of June, 2016.

The event was organized in accordance to uP-running project goals as a part of Horizon 2020 program of the EU. Speakers have presented best business cases of APPR’s supply chains from European countries to guests of the event. Experts’ community had actively discussed existing common commitments and incentives in organization of APPR’s supply business in Vinnitsa region and Ukraine for energy purposes.

Due to common endeavor of BIOMASSA and UCAB, machines and tech producers, dealers, logistics and energy companies have become familiar with up-to-date perspectives in APPR’s management and woody biomass usage as biofuel. The event was visited also by NGO’s and consumers of woody biomass representatives. Ukrainian machines’ producers have presented optional competitive combinations of technics and machines as a solution for farmers and perspective service companies in the industry. An important issue mentioned by experts is a lack and or poor information on economy and investments into APPR’s management and woody biofuel supply activities.

Summarizing the event, participators and speakers have discussed a list of major barriers dedicated to perspectives of the industry development. Thus, a core issue by experts’ opinion is inaccessibility to finance acquisition of required machines, technics, facilities and installations.

Despite existing factors of demotivation in development of new self-sufficient APPR’s woody biomass value adding supply chains, positive examples on Ukrainian business facilities were also presented to the audience. In particular, business case of APPR’s woody biomass usage for energy purposes at Mogyliv-Podilskyi cannery which operates 5 and 9 megawatts boiling houses on corresponding woody fuel.  

The event organizers in collaboration with UFG (Italy) work on five demonstrational APPR’s supply chains in Vinnitsa region. These examples will allow to insure stakeholder in additional benefits of development such business themselves or in cooperation with others. Next event will hold in Vinnitsa, Versal Hotel on Tyvrivske highway.
