Since the beginning of the year pigs got more expensive by a third
As of May 16 the average purchase price for pork of beef breed in terms of live weight accounted for 41 UAH/kg that is 28% higher than at the start of the year, the price of pork of 2nd category was 39 UAH/kg that is 39% higher than at the beginning of this year. The prerequisites for prices growth were as follows: revocation of VAT special regime which provided support for animal producers as well as twofold increase of minimum wage. The situation with African swine fever (ASF) led to reduction of livestock as well. As of May 1 this year, the number of pigs decreased by 7.3% (up to 7.1 million heads) compared to the same date last year.
