The way to convert orchards wastes into cash
Third consecutive workshop on perspectives of APPR woody biofuel supplies business was held in Vinnitsa on June 30, 2016. The event organized in uP-running project framework as part of Horizon 2020 program of the EU. Speakers have presented real positive EU’s business cases with successive active discussion within guests and experts dedicated to common commitments and incentives in organization of APPR woody biofuel supplies’ sustainable development.
Due to involvement of BIOMASS and UCAB, horticulturists were informed with perspectives in APPR management. Along with, the event has gathered representatives of NGOs, regional and local authorities and power heating generation companies. Manager of “Vinnitsamiskteploenergo” has organized an excursion to one of the entity’s heating generation plant constructed on investments of Switzerland based on up-to-date technology. Thus, visitors were able to get convinced in promising market changes and developments related to woody biofuel demand growth.
During held event experts’ community has expressed and discussed major barriers and obstacles devoted to contexts of further development of the industry. By the experts experience, main issues are competition insufficiency in power heating market, complicated access to financial resources, “black” market of woody biofuel supply and as a result absence of efficient service companies in APPR management. Despite all negative factors in existing entities, organizers and guests have got relevant examples of business cases working in power generation on APPR biomass as good motivation to step into a deal.
Apart from, informal platform already created for communication within perspective stakeholders in farther stages of the project. Group of stakeholders have demonstrated willingness to take part in demonstrative supply chains of APPR firewood.
UCAB and BIOMASS’s experts in cooperation and under supervision of UFG (Italy) work on organization of five demo versions of APPR biofuel value adding supply chains in Vinnitsa region. These examples intended to provide existing and perspective stakeholders with transparent understanding in development APPR firewood supply business models based on already given facilities or via building new company.
