Bread production in Ukraine has declined
During first five months in 2016 bread and bakery production has declined by 6% and reached 46.5 thousand tons. Notable decrease of rye bread production has been marked at the level of 22%, wheat and rye-wheat bread by 7% and 6% accordingly. Experts bound mentioned decline with an overall demand decrease due to narrowing of purchasing power.
“During last 5 years production of rye in Ukraine has declined by 32% and in 2015 reached 391 thousand tons. Price of rye in Ukraine was 400 UAH lower than wheat price lowering farmers’ incentives to cultivate rye”, - said Vitalii Kordysh, UCAB’s expert.
