Ukrainian roses are entering the foreign markets
Export of the Ukrainian roses tripled last year reaching 2.89 million pieces. In 2015 export amounted to 0.96 million pieces, in 2014 - 0.1 million pieces per year, the UCAB’s expert informed.
The price of one Ukrainian roses on the international market in 2016 amounted on the average USD 0.4. The main customers were: Poland - 50% of the total volume, Belarus - 29%, the Netherlands - 20%.
However, in 2016 Ukraine imported 24.4 million roses. The main countries importing flowers were Ecuador - 43% of total imports, Ethiopia - 30%, the Netherlands - 15%. Value of one imported rose in 2016 averagely ranged from USD 0.07 to 0.13 (Ecuador - 0.09 USD/pcs, Ethiopia - 0.07 USD/pcs, Netherlands - 0.09 USD/pcs).
In 2011-2014 Ukraine imported from 36 to 68 million roses each year at the price of 0.5 USD/ pcs. In 2015 the purchase price of imported flowers dropped to 0.08 USD/pcs and the volume reduced to 15 million roses. In 2016 24.4 million roses at the price of 0.12 USD/pcs were imported to our country.
Ukraine supplies only roses to the foreign markets, while importing mostly roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, orchids and lilies.
