Ukraine to elaborate meat-containing, meat-vegetable product standard
The State Committee on Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy of Ukraine (DerzhSpozhyvStandard) announced plans to develop a national standard for meat-containing and meat-vegetable products, committee head Larysa Losyuk said.
She says this is a priority task, as Ukraine does not have a standard that could regulate the production of sausages with vegetable components (soy, flour, starch etc.)
The committee is ready to ban a simultaneous use of new national, old, Soviet standards and international standards for sausage products right after the Cabinet of Ministers passes the relevant resolution.
The Economics Ministry has prepared a draft resolution banning the enterprises, when producing sausages, to simultaneously use national, Soviet and international standards. According to DerzhSpozhyvStandard, this draft document was approved at a meeting of the government committee.
In late 2008, the Cabinet of Ministers postponed for January 1, 2010 the introduction of national standards for sausages and small sausages scheduled for January 1, 2009.
