Ukraine: Odessa port increased grain shipment by 2.3 times
During January-April period, cargo processing volumes in Odessa port totaled 9.98 mln tons, a decrease of 2 mln tons or 17% compared to same 4-month period the previous year, according to the press-ctting service of the port. At the same time, the export volumes increased by 33% to the level of 4.87 mln tons. Transit totaled 4.5 mln tons, down 34% compared to January-April of 2008. Import volumes decreased by 62% to 0.58 mln tons.
General cargos shipment decreased by 28.1% to 4.31 mln tons. The port lost nearly 1.2 mln tons of general cargos due to the reduction of ferrous metal shipment (down 16.6% to 2.23 mln tons) and container shipment (down 51.3% to 708.700 tons). At the same time, vegetable oils shipment increased by 1.2 times. Grain shipment grew by 2.3 times to 1.7 mln tons.
