Ukraine, Japan to sign treaty on mutual protection of investments
Ukraine and Japan are interested in signing a treaty on mutual protection of investments, Japans Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida has said.
"To enhance the economic cooperation between the two countries, it is absolutely necessary to sign a treaty on investments between the two countries. We have agreed to intensify the dialogue aimed at signing this agreement," the Japanese minister said after the talks with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara in Kyiv on Monday.
According to him, Ukraine is a large food supplier and as such has an extremely strong economic potential.
"Japanese companies are interested in enhancing economic cooperation aimed at signing of a relevant agreement," Kishida said.
Kozhara, in turn, said that this agreement was important for further deepening of trade cooperation. "The parties are currently working on the draft agreement," the Ukrainian minister said.
