The government adopted a decree "On approval of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection," the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
The bilateral Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection has taken effect. The agreement was initiated and developed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Experts say approval of the agreement, will help protect the territories of the two countries against introduction and spread of quarantine organisms. The agreement will allow to eliminate barriers to bilateral trade in plant origin products, to promote the mutual exchange of information, documentation and achievements in the field of plant health.
A similar agreement has been signed with Belarus and Azerbaijan this year. Also, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, they have previously considered a possibility of joining the Customs Union agreement on sanitary, veterinary measures, and plant quarantine.
In addition, experts say that Ukraine has been a party to the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) since 1994.
