In July vegetables will fall in price
In June, the cost of vegetables and fruits increased, but starting from the third decade of June prices had began to decline. The biggest increase was in the prices of cabbage + 54% and onion + 43%, potatoes rose by 19%, carrots - by 18%, rootbeets - by 38%. An increase in prices for pork by 10% resulted a slight increase in prices in the adjacent markets of beef (+ 4%) and chicken (+ 2%). Since milk production in May-June is usually the peak, its value did not change substantially in the past month. Prices for groceries were relatively stable, with the exception of buckwheat (-6%) and sugar (-1%).
The reducing prices is expected in July for vegetables and fruits due to the beginning of the new season, the reduction is expected on average in 25-30%.
“In the meat market, prices for pork continue to grow and they support the cost of related products (beef and chicken), as consumers and processors replace pork with beef and chicken. In July, the cost of milk may slightly increase, market operators expect the price to rise in the coming weeks, which will lead to increased costs for processing enterprises. In July, prices for groceries will mostly remain stable, there may be slight fluctuations within 2-4%”, said Eugeniy Dvornik, analyst of agricultural markets of the Association" Ukrainian Agribusiness Club ".
