Seaports cut down transshipment by 21.8%
Commercial seaports cut down transshipment by 21.8% from 78,953 million tons to 61,772 million tons over seven months of 2009 against the same period of 2008, the Transport and Communications Ministry informed.
In particular, transshipment of dry cargos dropped by 18.9% against the same period of 2008, from 62,818 million tons to 52,008 million tons.
According to the ministry, only three ports out of 18 ports increased transshipment volumes over a reporting period.
According to the ministry, in 2008, total transshipment of cargos by Ukrainian ports made up 132,178 million tons, 7% up against 2007.
