Russia to Increase Pork and Poultry Production
As of May 8, 2009, there is a stable dynamics of growth in pork and poultry production sector in the Russian Federation, as Elena Skrynnik, the Agriculture Minister of Russia, reported referring to the data of Livestock Farming Department. Pursuant to her words, it gives reasons to believe that the increase of domestic meat production will total to 550 thousand tons by the end of the year.
Russian Agriculture Ministry’ press-service reports that as of April 1, 2009, pork production output in farms of all grades grew by 8.2% to 606 thousand tons, if compared with the same period last year. Poultry production was up 12.4% to 776 thousand tons.
