Russia to harvest over 97mn tons of grain this year
Grain harvest in Russia may exceed this year’s plan of 95mn-97mn metric tons, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said.
“The rise in grain harvest this year will exceed the average 15% increment registered in the past five years,” he said adding that the harvesting season is not yet over and the figures could be higher still.
Russia’s Agriculture Ministry expected gross grain in net weight to be 90mn-93mn tons this year, down from 108.1mn tons in 2008.
