Russia: National commodity exchange to launch November wheat futures
In May 2009, the market turnover of delivery futures contracts for wheat at the National commodity exchange, part of the Group of Moscow interbank currency exchange, totaled 3.8 bln RUR (11,926 contracts, or 0.8 mln tons of grains). On May 12, 2009, the exchange reached the maximum level of daily turnover from the beginning of the trading operations – 1056 contracts, declared the media-department of the exchange on June 1.
On May 29, 2009, the commodity exchange completed trading with May futures, the general turnover from the launching of trading in December 2008 totaled 8.1 bln RUR (1.55 mln tons of grains). The delivery volumes of May contracts reached the maximum index and totaled 4160 tons throughout 64 futures contracts.
The exchange market launches new futures contracts with delivery in November 2009 for 3-, 4- and 5-grade wheat with the delivery terms of EXW-elevators of the Southern Federal District, and Russian export milling wheat with delivery terms of FOB-Novorossiysk port.
The general market turnover from the beginning of trading (April 9, 2008, – May 29, 2009) totaled 8.8 mln tons at the sum of 46.5 bln RUR.
