Export of cattle meat increased at record
In 2016 a record amount of cattle meat within the previous 5 years was exported, i.e. 35 thous. tons amounting to USD 82.8 million.
Last year volumes of cattle meat supplied abroad are by 9.4% more (+3 thous. tons) than in 2015. Volumes of fresh and chilled meat supplied abroad increased by 83.9%, export of the frozen meat decreased by 18.2%.
In 2016 54.5% of the total cattle meat was exported to Belarus (99.3% of the total chilled cattle meat and 20% of frozen meat). Ukraine is the main meat supplier to this country occupying more than 96% of all import of cattle meat. At the same time, in 2016 Belarus increased export of meat to Russia by 18.8 thous. tons rising import from Ukraine by 15.8 thous. tons that may evidence about re-export of Ukrainian beef.
In this January exported cattle meat is 7.3 times more than in the same period of 201, i.e. 2.9 thous. tons, while in January 2016 - 0.4 thous. tons.
