Supplies of frozen fish set record
According to the State Fiscal Service, in January-August 2016, Ukraine imported livestock products for 390 M USD, within that half of supplies were taken by frozen fish (49,9% or 146,1 thousand tons). This is in 39% higher than the results of the same period last year. In monetary terms, imports of these products amounted to 170, 5 M USD which is in 51,5% more than in the first 8 months of 2015.
In January-August 2016, the main supplying countries were Norway, with a share of 22, 2% of all imported frozen fish (37.8 M USD), Iceland - 13,2% (22,4 M USD) and the USA - 10% (17,1 M USD). In total, these three leaders supply to Ukraine almost half of all frozen fish (45,4%).
If to observe the structure of imports, according to the State Statistics Service, during January-July 2016, Ukraine mainly imported: herring - 25% of imported frozen fish in monetary terms, horse-mackerel - 19%, bonito - 18%, and also salmon, sardines, fish spawn and liver.
