Number of cows fell on 4%
As of April 1, 2016, in Ukraine it was 2.19 million cows than was 4% less than the similar period of the previous year. The rate cuts were similar both at agricultural enterprises and householders’ farms. The enterprises currently have 23% of cows, that is 507.3 thousand cows. Decreasing of their number is observed in almost all regions. A small growth in the number of livestocks is indicated in Kirovohrad, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions. Leaders in roduction rate of livestock (except temporarily occupied territory) are Zhytomyr (-11.2%), Volyn (-10.5%) and Mykolaiv (-10%) regions. The main causes of this tendency are the low demand for dairy products on both domestic and foreign markets impacted on the fast growth of milk cost which is considerably exceeded the rate of increasing of purchasing prices.
