Bad weather stimulated the growth of prices for crops
During last week (15.01-22.01.2016) purchasing prices for barley and maize increased. According to the results of UCAB weekly price monitoring, the price for barley and maize equaled and amounts to 3400 UAH/t. During the week the cost of barley increased by 100 USD/t, of maize - by 200 USD/t. Thus the ascending price trend has replaced the side trend since the beginning of the year. The increase in prices has led to growth of demand for crops from traders in western regions.
Excessive rainfall has provided additional support to prices (temporary decrease in demand in the market), that caused the growth of prices for grains in the dock-side regions by 100-150 UAH/t. Price volatility and small-term growth of prices for grains is expected in the short term outlook due to the influence of devaluation of hryvnia and increase of prices for these crops in the international market.
