On September 18, the third module of AgriSchool of "Dairy Cattle Management" was held in Kyiv, devoted to the Israeli technologies of dairy cattle breeding and flock management.

There were about 20 participants at the event - the directors of dairy farms and zootechnics learned about modern developments of the Israeli AfiMilk Company. AfiMilk Company holds 30% of the world market of flock management systems. “We have many partners, dealers all over the world. We offer both complex solutions and turnkey projects for different types of farms. We propose to consider the AfiFarm system,” said Igor Tsvet, Regional Director, Afimilk Company.

AfiFarm sensors collect the most important data, which are then counted, analyzed and ordered by the system. Such operations, along with the proposed set of recommendations, allow dairy farmers to make the right decisions in certain situations. The AfiFarm system covers such activities as milk production, animal reproduction and animal health, as well as presents a unique set of solutions in the form of nutrition notifications based on an analysis of the milk composition of the herd. “As a result, the farmer receives important information on the effectiveness of milking and other information that can better control the production performance of the dairy farm. For many decades, the AfiFarm system is helping the dairy farms to increase milk production, improve the health of the herd and to raise their reproduction rates. The success of many dairy farms would have been impossible without the use of this software. A large group of workers who work remotely, through mobile access can give advice on the farm, these services are free,” noted Mr. Igor Tsvet.

Leonid Pavlychenko, the head of Agrosystem company during the next theoretical and practical session, talked about the use of equipment to determine the number of somatic cells. In particular, he described LACTOSCAN SCC Somatic cell counter, which meets the requirements of ISO 13366-1:2008.

“The milk sample is placed in a test tube where it is mixed with Sofia Green dye, which stains the somatic cells as an indicator. Then the sample is placed in Lactopichip cassette that is inserted into the device. Next, the system begins conduct the analysis, which lasts from 10 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the number of fields filled in on the cassette. After that a series of photos is made and they count the number of somatic cells,” told Leonid Pavlichenko. In the process of sampling for analysis it is important to adhere the approved sampling methodology in order to obtain the best possible result. For example, if the sample was not treated with conservant, it should be analyzed within 6 hours.
