Medvedev threatens Ukraine with trade restrictions
If the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement takes effect, Ukraine will lose privileges in trade with Russia. There may be even restrictions, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said this at the Council of Federation on Monday, a Moscow-based Ukrinform reporter said.
For Ukraine, a special regime, so to speak, a partnership regime, which has operated until now, will end. Yeah, we will be friends, we will trade, but it will be the trade we maintain with our other partners - without any privileges, on the contrary, probably even with restrictions, he said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin also repeatedly stated that Russia, while respecting Ukraines decision, at the same time will have to take measures to protect its own economic interests.
