Ukrainian import of butter has shown 5X growth
Based on the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, internal traders have imported 5X larger volumes of butter during Jan-Apr 2016 comparing to the same period in 2015. The overall volume of imported butter in 2016 reached 617 tons (120 tons in 2015). 2016 butter import accounts for 2 M USD which is 3.7X higher than in 2015.
Major exporters of butter to Ukraine in Jan-Apr of 2016 were New Zealand (19.8% or 392 k USD), Moldova (17.2% or 340 k USD) and Egypt (14.8% or 292 k USD).
In 2015 during first four months major volumes of butter were imported from the EU countries as France, Germany, and Finland, which all together have imported 80% of volumes in the outcome. Thus, market has change suppliers due to lowering market balance level as a result of national currency devaluation and descent of purchasing power within customers in Ukraine.
