Mustard and sorghum lost in value, buckwheat added
Last week in Ukraine it can be observed prices decreasing on a number of crops. Thus, the most lost in price had: white mustard (-900 UAH/t) to 9900 UAH/t, technical rape (-500 UAH/t) to 9500 UAH/t, white sorghum (-250 UAH/t) to 3800 UAH/t and red sorghum (-200 UAH/t) to 3800 UAH/t. Strengthening of the national currency and little demand, as evidenced by the regional range of traders’ purchasing prices, were the main causes of the decrease in prices.
Growth in prices last week was obsereved mainly on buckwheat (+ 700 UAH/t) up to 21200 UAH/t, chick-peas added 300 UAH/t (up to 16300 UAH/t), the cost of millet has risen on 250 UAH/t up to 3950 UAH/t. Prices for buckwheat rose also because of the increased consumers demand and the low level of its reserves at the end of the season. The cost of chick-pea and millet has risen because of increasing demand from exporters in the portside region – Odessa.
