GDP drops by 17.8% in Q2 2009
According to the State Statistics Committee, in the second quarter of 2009, GDP of Ukraine fell by 17.8% against the same period of 2008, in fixed prices for 2007. Nominal GDP amounted to UAH 207.10bn (EUR 17.04bn USD 24.86bn).
According to the Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Studies named after Razumkov, in the first half of 2009, GDP fell by 18-19%. In the second half of 2009, it expects a slight improvement, to 12-14%. The World Bank expects GDP of Ukraine to decrease by 15% as of 2009, the International Monetary Fund by 14%.
