To enter the EU market with agricultural agricultural products Ukraine should urgently amend legislation, having harmonized it with the European one. In particular, we are talking about adopting the bill “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding animals identification and registration» No.4987-1 of 16 June2014. Currently, it is extremely important for the livestock industry development and for searching new markets. After all, trade problems with the Russian Federation resulted in significant casualties and significant damage for producers.

According to UCAB information, in 2013, Ukraine supplied to the Russian Federationf 17 000 t of beef that is equal to 72% of the total export of this meat for the year and 4.2% of total beef production in the country. In general, the share of Russia in meat export from Ukraine amounted to 34.7%, or 2.5% of the total meat production in the country.

However, experts note that these volumes can be refocused on other markets. In such situation, it is extremely important to adopt the draft Law "On amendments to some legislative acts of regarding animals identification and registration» No.4987-1 of 16 June 2014.

"The market of the European Union is very important for Ukrainian livestock industry and agricultural production in general. Because in addition to a large and stable market for Ukrainian products and reliable partner, exports to the EU will contribute into improving the quality of domestic products and encourage developments in agricultural production. However, without harmonization of the legislation and adoption of the Law on animal identification, the European market for beef producers will stay closed", - said Alina Zharko, the expert on agricultural markets of the Association" Ukrainian Agribusiness Club ".
