Exports of chocolate from Ukraine decreased by 34%
In January-October 2015 Ukraine exported 53.3 ths. tons of chocolate, which is 34% less than during the same period of last year. In value terms, exports fell by 49% - from USD 243 mln to USD 124 mln. The main reason for this decline was almost complete restraint of exports to Russia, which used to be the main market for Ukrainian chocolate.
Thus, for 10 months of 2015 exports of chocolate to Russia constituted only 4 tons, which is less than 1% out of total exports of product. For comparison, in 2014 the share of Russia in total exports of Ukrainian chocolate was 30% and in 2013 - 58%. Currently, the main external markets for this product are the countries of Customs Union - Kazakhstan, Belarus and Azerbaijan.
