Chumak to put into operation pasta factory in October
The company Chumak, a producer of ketchup, sauces, and canned vegetables, is to put into operation the first stage of a new pasta factory in Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region in October 2009. According to the co-owner of the company Johan Boden, the launch of the second stage is planned for 2010. The company is to invest USD 6mn (EUR 4.19mn) in the project. The factory will be able to put out 20,000-30,000 tons of pasta products from hard wheat per year. The products will be positioned in the premium price segment. At present, pasta under the trademark Chumak is produced by one of the factories in Russia by the company's order.
Demand for pasta in Ukraine is stable. Business margin is not lower than 40%. In 2009, the market is expected to grow by 10%.
