The British named major competitive advantages of the Ukrainian agribusiness
On 27 January in Kyiv the British agricultural producers shared their impressions of a visit to the Ukrainian agricultural enterprises that took place from 23 to 28 January. The trip to Ukraine was arranged by Syngenta Company supported by the British Embassy in Ukraine. The British agricultural producers visited Poltava and Zhytomyr regions, joined the field crops conference ‘Workshop of Farmer’ supported by Syngenta in Kharkiv. The final destination of the visit was Kyiv where they told reporters about experience gained during trips to agricultural farms, and evaluated potential of the agricultural sector in Ukraine.
20 British farmers and consultants visited Ukraine. Not long ago, a group of the Ukrainian agricultural producers visited annual agricultural exhibition ‘Lamma’ in Great Britain and the largest research center of Syngenta in Jealott`s Hill in England as well. Syngenta delegated three agricultural producers who had the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest trends and technologies of the agricultural market.
British agricultural producers believe that the technology and good management are the main components for success in agricultural production. Therefore, they observe a great potential in the Ukrainian agribusiness. ‘The Ukrainian farmers are in position to produce good-quality products that will be in demand. Political controversies have undeniable impact on agribusiness. However, fertile land and low wages are the Ukrainian competitive advantages, - noted Bill Webb, producer of crops and potatoes. - British farmers are working with 3% crediting rate that eases conditions for carrying out agricultural business. However, if you can achieve such great results without any government subsidies, it proves that the Ukrainian business has every chance to strengthen its position on the world stage’.
Representatives of Syngenta and British Embassy expressed their hope that such visits would facilitate exchange of experiences between countries as well as contribute to opening of the latest trends and technologies at the agricultural market for the Ukrainian farmers.
