Government preserves tax benefits for agricultural producers - Shvaika
Preferential treatment of value added tax for producers of agricultural products will not be canceled from January 1, 2015.
Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Ihor Shvaika told a briefing in the Cabinet on Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"A special regime is not canceled. We had a meeting with the Prime Minister and the Cabinet members the day before yesterday. Asked whether the public will accept this change, I gave a categorical answer - this change will not be accepted by the society and the agro-industrial complex. We support the people who stood with the requirements that such changes will not be introduced from January 1, 2015. Yesterday, this issue was taken off the agenda," the Minister said.
Shvaika noted that the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry is preparing a series of draft laws, aimed at creating a system of compensators for producers of agricultural products. By that time, the Minister said, the draft law to abolish the preferential VAT regime has no chance of passing.
To remind, the mode of tax incentives for farmers is operating in Ukraine since 1998. It includes a fixed agricultural tax, accumulation of VAT funds by agricultural enterprises and support of livestock farms through transferring the value added tax of processing companies.
