20 German farm companies ready to invest in Ukrainian agriculture
The German agricultural business is ready to actively enter the domestic market and invest in Ukraine's agriculture. For that purpose almost all conditions have been created, but still a number of issues need to be addressed.
This has been discussed at a meeting of Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksandr Sen with representatives of the German agricultural business, held before the official opening of the International Green Week exhibition in Berlin, the ministry's press office said in a statement.
"The meeting was attended by about 20 representatives of agricultural enterprises, professional associations and organizations of Germany. They noted that they are ready to expand partnership with Ukraine, in particular, enter the market and invest in agriculture. However, for more effective cooperation it is necessary to simplify doing business in Ukraine. Specifically, it relates to simplifying taxation, mechanisms for obtaining various permits and certificates," the report says.
The sides also discussed the coproduction of agricultural equipment, control over crop rotation, GMO products, VAT refund during grain exports, moratorium on farm land sale.
"We want to ensure that farming in Ukraine is not only profitable, but also convenient. So now measures on business deregulation are being actively taken. Moreover, we are trying to quickly eliminate all obstacles for farmers. And we are already seeing positive results that representatives of the German business speak about," the deputy minister said.
In particular, he cited the situation in the field of plant protection agents, namely their control. So, now, each batch of agents is verified when importing to Ukraine. However, as manufacturers of the agents have faced significant challenges, the possibility of simplifying the mechanism is being now considered. The customs office is planning to carry out only documentary control, and the batches will be checked selectively. The producers who have not violated the rules will be checked at a predetermined time.
