Canadian wheat troubles Turkish producers
Canada is one of the leading traders of wheat in the world even though Anatolia is the originator of the grain and has been producing it for thousands of years. The competition between Turkish and Canada producers, which has “the world’s best wheat quality system guarantee,” is very difficult for the former due to the low number of enterprises, low technology usage, high costs and a lack of variety standard, a recent seminar has revealed.

Ukraine harvests 43.3 million tons of grain, 6 million tons of sunflower seeds as of Oct. 23
Ukraine by October 23, 2009 had harvested 43.3 million tonnes of grain, which was 12.3% down on the same date last year, the Agriculture Ministry reported with reference to updates from the regions.

Over 8 million tons of grain esported by Ukraine since start of marketing year
It is by 2,5% more as compared with the same period of the last year. According to the Ministry for agricultural policy, over this period wheat export made 4,5 million tons, grain of barley - almost 3 million tons and corn - over o,5 million tons.

EBRD to provide Euroterminal with USD 27mn loan facility for logistics center nearby Odesa port
The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will extend a USD 27 million credit facility for construction of a logistics center in the area of the Black Sea Odesa Commercial Seaport. The financing will be provided to Euroterminal LLC, a company set up specifically to implement the project, the EBRD press release reads.

Russia: ports of the Azov-Don basin increased grains and oilseeds exports by 4.5%
During January-September of 2009, the growth rates of cargo shipment in the ports of the Azov-Don basin in Russia totaled 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year – to 14.85 mln tonnes, declared the press-cutting service of the Azov-Don state basin department of waterways and navigation.

Within this year Jan-Sept all kinds property agricultural companies (except small-scale ones) were selling pigs at average UAH14,510 per MT, up UAH1,889 per MT (+ 15%) against last year Jan-Sept, reported State Statistics Committee.
