During his visit to Vytove, Chyhyryn district, Cherkasy region, on Saturday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko attended the ceremony of opening a terminal for the shipment of grain and oil bearing crops onto river-going transport at the Nibulon joint venture, which is one of Ukraine's biggest producers and exporters of farm produce, the presidential website says.
The high-quality and up-to-date terminal was built in only two months. Yushchenko pointed out the importance of this successful construction in conditions of overcoming crisis phenomena in the national economy. He drew attention to the fact that the capacities of the elevator make it possible to process several hundred thousand tons of grain, and cut the delivery cost by 10%.
The President noted Ukraine's great achievements in extension of its presence in the global agricultural market. Particularly, he implied Ukraine's 5th place by the export of grain in the world during the past three years.
In Yushchenko's words,. Ukraine's agriculture has a great export potential. But it is necessary to solve the problem of developing powerful infrastructure of this market, since currently the country can meet the demands of elevators by only a third.
