National agricultural producers gather 2.2 million tons of grain
During the harvesting held in southern regions, national agricultural producers have already gathered 2.2 million tons of grain. First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov has said about this, the press service of the First Vice Prime Minister told Ukrinform.
“Currently, there is strong pace of harvesting and 2.2 million tons of grain was gathered as of today. Despite difficult weather conditions this year, producers have a good result, received thanks to high crop capacity. Last year it was 16 centners/ha, whereas this year - 23,” Arbuzov said.
The Vice Prime Minister is convinced that the first results of harvesting give grounds to forecast that the high yield will be received this year in Ukraine, 53-54 million tons on average.
“As of today, there are all prerequisites for gathering one of the largest yields over the years of independence. The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry helped the agricultural producers so that they are provided with high-quality seeds, mineral fertilizers and fuel and lubricants, as well as with new grain harvesting equipment. Now, the government effectively responses to the situation in the field and promotes efficient holding of harvesting. In particular, a schedule of visits by branch Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk was approved in all regions, where he will personally control the grain harvesting process,” Serhiy Arbuzov summed up.
To remind, in 2011, agricultural producers gathered a record-making yield over the years of independence - 56 million tons, and in 2012 - the third by the volume yield of 46 million tons. And until 2017, it is planned to boost grain production to 80 million tons. For this, Ukraine attracts investors, ready to invest in the national agroindustrial complex up to USD 3 billion only this year. And in order to preserve and to transport grain, the infrastructure is being built all over the country, in particular, grain elevators are constructed.
