India's September edible oil imports 4.5 percent down
India's edible oil imports may have fallen 4.5 percent in September from August, the second monthly fall in the past six months, a Reuters survey showed on Wednesday. Stocks held by importers at the warehouses near the ports are also expected to have fallen 14 percent from August, the survey showed. India's edible oil imports have increased on a monthly basis since March, except in July and September, when the shipments were lower than the preceding month.
The world's top vegetable oil buyer is forecast to have imported 585,625 tonnes in September, 6 percent down than a year ago, the mean of estimates from eight top traders across India showed.
