Farmers harvest over 13.3 million tons of grain - Agriculture Ministry
This week will be the most active period for farmers who harvest grain in all regions in Ukraine. They have currently threshed more than 13.3 million tons of grain and thanks to the expansion of areas under crops and a high yield they will be able to thresh about 54 million tons of grain by the end of the harvesting campaign in August.
Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Oleksandr Sen said this during a video conference in the governments communications center on Thursday, the press service of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food told Ukrinform.
The harvesting campaign currently continues in all regions in Ukraine. Farmers have already threshed more than 13.3 million tons of grain, including 9.7 million tons of wheat, 3.4 million tons of barley and 148,000 tons of peas, the official said.
He said that these results had been achieved due to a high yield of grain crops, which increased on average across all regions by seven quintals per hectare.
